About James Bradley

I help Portland-area homeowners navigate downsizing and relocation decisions.

If you’ve been in your home for 20 or 30 years and you’re starting to think about what’s next, you’re in the right place.

Why I Do This Differently

I wasn’t always in real estate. Our dream was to own land. We bought five acres and built a home “on the cheap”—14% interest rates, we started with the main level and finished the lower level a couple years later. Over 25 years I spent every weekend working in the yard or on the house, building a garden showplace that we loved. In 2007 kids were gone and we wanted a change and moved to a condo in The Pearl District. We decided to update the kitchen, baths, and main living area before selling—big mistake! We had to fire two contractors, went way over budget, but finally got it done. Then the market crashed. We couldn’t sell without taking a loss, so we rented to a friend who’d been wiped out in the same crash. The rent didn’t cover our mortgage so we made up the difference for years.

That’s why I do this differently.

Background

I came to real estate after careers in the music industry and technology (including 6 years at Microsoft). During those years I worked with hundreds of clients. The lessons learned provided me with an ideal training ground for working in real estate. I learned how to listen, how to create an effective plan and execute that plan to guide people through one of the most important financial transactions in their life. I hold the SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist) designation and am a Master Certified Negotiation Expert (MCNE). The credentials matter, but what matters more is understanding what you’re actually going through.

How I Work

Whether you’re two months or two years out from making a move, the key to a low-stress move is advanced planning. Let’s talk about your situation and what preparation might look like.

My job is to answer your questions, understand your goals, and work with you to build a strategy that fits your timeline. I’ll give you a balanced read on the market and your home’s position in it. Sometimes that means telling you something you’d rather not hear about pricing—but I’d rather have that conversation early than watch your home sit.

When you’re ready, I’ll be here with a plan and the experience to help you navigate it well.

Let’s Talk

If you’re starting to think about your next chapter—even if it’s a few years away—I’d be happy to have a conversation. No pitch, no pressure.

What My past Clients Say

In my case, I was moving to the Portland area from Seattle. Jim was very knowledgeable about the various neighborhoods and savvy about what to look for with the various listings. In addition, given the market and my price point, this effort took a while. Jim was patient, encouraging, accommodating and steadfast. I couldn’t have done it without him. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Brigitta Remole

Jim helped my husband and I purchase our new home and sell our old home, both in Vancouver. We appreciated Jim’s calm demeanor and pragmatic guidance throughout both transactions. He patiently answered our questions and kept us well informed at every stage. Jim exemplifies integrity and professionalism at its best. We will continue to highly recommend him. Thanks, Jim!

Ellen Jones

Jim is the best broker I’ve met in my life. He is very knowledgeable in his craft and he cares to create relationships. Unlike most brokers, he doesn’t just try to get you to buy as fast as possible, he cares to find the best house you could have. He listened to the details that mattered to me (and boy was the list long), he nervously said let’s find you the perfect house, and he did! He grasped my style/taste right away, which I think is very important to keep efficient and not waste time in the search. He’s honest, friendly, funny, and a delight to work with. Couldn’t recommend him enough.
